The Challenge

The LS13320 could no longer be sold in Europe (its biggest market) because it was not compatible with the RoHS regulation, which set a limit to the amount of lead that could be included in devices sold in the European market. In addition, the product was more than 20 years old, and the SMEs were no longer available. The customer needed a new device for a growing market.

The Solution

• Build a new device with new hardware and software, improved sample throughput, and expanded range.
• Develop a client application for Windows.
• Port the analysis library from Fortran to C# to support reusability and maintenance.
• Develop firmware and open REST-based event handling system over USB to allow reliable control from client applications.
• Support ISO9001:2015, 21CFR Part 11.
